The San Francisco 49ers worked out free agent running back Jahad Thomas on Tuesday, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

The 49ers plan to place running back Raheem Mostert on injured reserve after he suffered an MCL injury against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Tackle Erik Magnuson will also head to injured reserve with a severe foot sprain.

Thomas was an undrafted free agent out of Temple who was initially signed by the Dallas Cowboys on May 12 and then waived on July 28. He signed with the New York Jets on August 23, was waived on September 2, and then signed to the team's practice squad on October 10. Thomas remained with the Jets for a little over a week before being released on October 18.

In college, Thomas' best year was as a junior in 2015 when he led the Owls offense with 1,262 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns, and a receiving touchdown. He helped guide Temple to a 10-4 record and an appearance in the Boca Raton Bowl that season. As a senior, he had 953 yards running the football, 418 receiving, 13 rushing touchdowns, and six receiving touchdowns. The Owls appeared in the 2016 Military Bowl, where they lost to Wake Forest.
