While the Chicago defense kept Garoppolo's passes out of the end zone, kicker Robbie Gould, who spent 11 seasons with the Bears before being released in 2016, converted all five of his field goal attempts. Gould received the game ball from head coach Kyle Shanahan, who can be seen addressing the team below in a video provided by 49ers Media.
"This means a lot to me," Gould told his teammates. "You don't know how hard it was to come back here. Harder than I thought."
Shanahan also singled out performances by wide receivers Marquise Goodwin and Trent Taylor, the latter of which was sick the night before the game.
"[Taylor] had his Michael Jordan performance today," Shanahan told the team. "He was sick, throwing up. It would have been hard to win this without him."
