Armed with a new franchise quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo, fans are excited about the future and so are players, who had probably become accustomed to loss after loss.

A number of players seemed appreciative of the contingent of Niner Faithful who showed up at NRG Stadium to watch the 49ers.
"It was loud out there," Gaoppolo said after the game. "There were a couple of 49er chants that you heard. This really being the first time I've seen that, it's impressive how well they travel. That just gives us that much more energy on the sideline."
