The 49ers continue to gather information about the incident. Foster even sat down with general manager John Lynch, head coach Kyle Shanahan, and possibly other team officials on Monday.
Tim Ryan, a color analyst for the 49ers' radio broadcast, joined KNBR on Tuesday night to share his opinion on the situation.
While Ryan knows others who have such weapons in their homes, he doesn't know what Foster was doing with one nor has he ever felt the need to own one himself.
"The domestic assault -- and I have no idea what happened, do not condone that behavior, nor subscribe to any type of domestic assault and/or violence or anything -- but I think we should wait and see on that because you never know," Ryan said on the "Tolbert & Lund" show. "And again, I'm sure the facts will come out."

Ryan was shocked to see polls by local news outlets asking fans if Foster should be released after this latest arrest.
"Again, not condoning any of it," Ryan continued. "None of that stuff is ok, but let's wait and hear some of the facts on some of that stuff first."
Ryan did agree that, at the very least, Foster has proven to be a poor decision maker. The star linebacker was already coming off of an arrest on January 12 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for second-degree possession of marijuana.
"I've gotten to know Reuben, and I think he is a really good person," Ryan said. "I think he is still trying to figure it out in terms of maturing and living like an NFL player all the time, on and off the field. But I don't think there's any doubt that there should be some concern and I'm sure there have been some heavy conversations already.
"But I'm an optimist just in knowing Reuben. However, I think you can go back and study the league, and there have been a lot of great players that have good hearts and are good people that, for one reason or the other, can't fix that behavior pattern in their decision making."
