It has already been revealed that the San Francisco 49ers met with a number of the top running back prospects, including Saquon Barkley of Penn State, Ronald Jones of USC, and Royce Freeman of Oregon, at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week. Seeking to improve the blocking for whoever the running back might be next season and franchise quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, they were also among the teams to meet with UCLA tackle Kolton Miller, according to Miller himself.

Other teams that interviewed Miller included the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills.

Miller, who started all 13 games as a junior at left tackle for the Bruins last season, was responsible for protecting quarterback Josh Rosen's blind side. In 2016, Miller's season was shortened by a foot injury. He joined UCLA in 2015 as a four-star recruit and started five games at right tackle that year.

NFL.com projects that Miller will be selected in rounds 2-3 of the NFL Draft.




Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Miller to Jeremy Trueblood, had the following to say in his scouting report:

"Miller is an exceptionally tall tackle prospect who lacks the flexibility in his hips to drop his pad level and play with better leverage and a stronger base. His lateral movements in his pass slides are segmented and there are reps that he has to completely break from his technique to chase edge rushers to the corner. Miller has the frame to add more mass and he may need to make the move to the right side as a pro. He has the physical traits to become an average NFL starter, but I see pass protection concerns in his future."
