"I'm excited. A lot of HOF DBs have gone through this incredible organization and I am looking to uphold that standard," Sherman told Steve Wyche of NFL Network via text message.
Other than the potential money he can earn over the next three seasons, the idea of facing the Seahawks twice a year had to be an incentive as well.
As for fans of both franchises, reactions to the signing are mixed. But if Sherman is healthy at that start of the 2018 season, the 49ers are getting a four-time Pro Bowl selection, three-time first-team All-Pro, and Super Bowl champion who can be a leader on defense.
Plus, as Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group pointed out, there aren't a whole lot of fans outside of Levi's Stadium protesting the signing.
