The 49ers also hosted former Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Jaylen Watkins for a visit on Wednesday, March 21, and are scheduled to host former New Orleans Saints cornerback Delvin Breaux -- if that visit hasn't already occurred.
As for Gunter, the Packers signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Miami in 2015. In three NFL seasons, he has registered 56 combined tackles, 12 passes defensed, and two forced fumbles. The bulk of Gunter's playing time came in 2016 when he started 15 games for Green Bay and recorded 54 combined tackles, 12 passes defensed, and two forced fumbles. The Packers released Gunter on September 12, 2017, and the Panthers claimed him off waivers the next day.
Gunter did not record a tackle in five game appearances last year between the Packers (1 game) and Panthers (4 games).
In college, Gunter started all 26 games for the Hurricanes during his junior (2013) and senior (2014) years. He registered 46 tackles and three interceptions as a junior and 28 tackles and two interceptions as a senior.
