The San Francisco 49ers, along with 16 other NFL teams, were on hand for Maryland's pro day on Wednesday morning, according to Turran Davenport of Eagles Wire. The featured player at the workout was wide receiver D.J. Moore.


Moore registered 146 receptions for 2,027 yards with 17 touchdowns in three seasons with the Terrapins. His best season came last year as a junior when he caught 80 passes for 1,033 yards and eight touchdowns in 12 starts, which earned him first-team all-conference selection and being named 2017 Big Ten Receiver of the Year. Moore was the team's top kick returner in 2016 with 15 returns for 334 yards.

The 49ers did not address the wide receiver position in free agency, passing on players like Allen Robinson and Sammy Watkins. The team will likely address the area in the draft.

"What you don't want to do is have a bunch of guys who are OK but are paid like the best," head coach Kyle Shanahan said this week. "That's where you get in trouble and have to stay away from in free agency. It's usually why the draft is the best way to go."


At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot and 210-pound Moore had a 40-time of 4.42 seconds, a vertical jump of 39.5 inches, a broad jump of 132 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 6.95 seconds, had 15 reps in the bench press, a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.07 seconds, and a 60-yard shuttle time of 11.18 seconds. Other measurables for Moore include an arm length of 31 5/8 inches and hands that measure 9 5/8 inches.

NFL.com projects Moore to be a second-round pick in next month's draft.



Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Moore to Stefon Diggs, had the following to say in his scouting report:

"Moore is bigger than former Terrapin wideout Stefon Diggs, but their playing style and athletic ability while at Maryland are similar. Moore doesn't have the height and length teams look for outside and may become a full-time option from the slot. He clearly has the short-area quickness and talent after the catch to handle those duties, but his route-running needs to become more focused and fast to unlock his potential. He has Day 2 talent and could become an early contributor as a receiver and punt returner."
