With the 49ers in need of a "Leo" pass rusher, Davenport is a legitimate candidate for the team at the ninth-overall pick. In four seasons with the Roadrunners, he registered 185 combined tackles, 37.5 for a loss, 21.5 sacks, eight passes defensed, six forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries, according to Sports Reference. Davenport recorded 55 combined tackles, 17.5 for a loss, 8.5 sacks, four passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery as a senior in 2017.
Zgonina was on hand to work out Florida State pass rusher Josh Sweat last week. He was also in attendance to watch defensive tackle P.J. Hall at Sam Houston State's pro day on Monday.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 6-foot-6 and 264-pound Davenport had a 40-time of 4.58 seconds, a vertical jump of 33.5 inches, a broad jump of 124 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 7.20 seconds, had 22 reps in the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.41 seconds. Other measurables for Davenport include an arm length of 33 5/8 inches and hands that measure 9 1/8 inches.
NFL.com projects that Davenport will be a first-round selection in next month's draft.
Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Davenport to Danielle Hunter, had the following to say in his scouting report:
"Davenport packed on 30 pounds from his sophomore to senior season and has the frame to continue getting bigger and stronger. While he's been a stand-up rusher at UTSA, teams may see him as a 4-3 defensive end. Right now Davenport is more of a flash player than a consistent menace, but he showed flashes at the Senior Bowl of being able to take a substantial step forward with more time."
