The San Francisco 49ers reportedly worked out two SMU offensive lineman this week, according to the Sacramento Bee. The first was center Evan Brown, who has experience at guard, and the second is a converted defensive lineman, Mason Gentry.

Brown (6-2, 307) impressed during SMU's pro day, posting a 4.97-second 40-time, 36-inch vertical leap, and bench pressing 225 pounds 36 times. He started 13 games at center as a senior for the Mustangs in 2017 on an offense that ranked 12th in the nation in scoring, 15th in total offense, and 19th in passing. As a junior, he started all 12 games at center for SMU and started 12 games at right guard as a sophomore in 2015.

Gentry (6-6, 310) posted a 5.14-second 40-time and 28 repetitions on the bench press at the SMU pro day. He played along the Mustangs' defensive line while compiling 107 combined tackles, eight for a loss, 4.5 sacks, and four passes defensed in four seasons. Gentry has the size to possibly play guard for an NFL team.
