As Wilson notes, Henderson served as a receiver and running back during his collegiate career. He was the Panthers' kick returner during his freshman season, averaging 28 yards per return with a touchdown. During Henderson's sophomore season in 2016, he carried the football 60 times for 631 yards (10.5 yards per carry) with five touchdowns, caught 26 passes for 286 yards with another score, and added four more touchdowns that year as a returner. In 2017, Henderson registered 17 receptions for 186 yards, carried the football 36 times for 251 yards, and added two more scores on punt returns.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the 5-foot-8 and 190-pound Henderson had a 40-time of 4.5 seconds, a vertical jump of 32.5 inches, a broad jump of 120 inches, completed the three-cone drill in 6.89 seconds, had 12 reps in the bench press, and a 20-yard shuttle time of 4.28 seconds.
NFL.com projects Henderson to be an undrafted free agent.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, who compares Henderson to Eric Weems, wrote the following within his scouting report:
"Dangerous return specialist who offers potential value as a gadget slot. Henderson's lack of hesitation and his ability to get to top speed quickly and stay there is what gives him a shot at having early success as both a punt and kick returner. While Henderson could have an NFL career as a return man only, he has enough potential to warrant a roster spot as both a return man and a slot for teams looking for a playmaker."
Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst wrote the following within his scouting report:
"Henderson is an explosive athlete with elite speed. He's a hybrid skill player who could line up all over the field but must produce as a return specialist to make an NFL roster."
