Former Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith arrived in the Bay Area last night and will meet with San Francisco 49ers coaches and officials today, according to a report from NBC Sports Bay Area. This is the final week that NFL teams can host prospects before next week's draft.

News of the scheduled visit was first reported last month by the Macon Telegraph. Smith would be a solid fit for the 49ers' Will linebacker spot. Malcolm Smith, who is slated as a starter at the position, reported to the 49ers on Monday for the start of the team's offseason program.

Roquan Smith, the 2017 Butkus Award winner, registered college career highs of 137 combined tackles, 14 for a loss, 6.5 sacks, two passes defensed, and two fumble recoveries in 15 games last year, according to Sports Reference. He also had a forced fumble. In 2016, Smith recorded 95 combined tackles, five for a loss, a pass defensed, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in 13 games and 10 starts.

NFL.com projects Smith to be a first-round selection in the draft, likely even a top-15 or even top-10 pick, which falls in line with the 49ers' top selection at No. 9 overall.

Meanwhile, the future for linebacker Reuben Foster, who was one of the 49ers' two first-round selections in last year's draft, remains uncertain. Following an altercation at his home on February 11, he faces charges of domestic violence with an allegation that he inflicted great bodily injury, forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime, and possession of an assault weapon.

The 28-year-old alleged victim, who was his live-in girlfriend at the time, reportedly suffered bruises and a ruptured eardrum from the altercation.

"The victim told responding sheriff's deputies and Los Gatos police that Foster dragged her by her hair, physically threw her out of the house, and punched her in the head 8 to 10 times," read the news release from the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office last week.

Foster is not participating in team meetings or organized activities as the legal process plays out.
