Why is Fountain's schedule booked? His stock has been rising since being named offensive MVP of the 2018 East-West Shrine Game. Fountain caught three passes for a game-high 61 yards and returned two punt returns for 40 yards for the East squad.
In four seasons with the Panthers, Fountain caught 150 passes for 2,077 yards with 23 touchdowns. In 2017, he had career highs of 66 receptions for 943 yards with 12 touchdowns.
"Being from a small school, it's easy to get overlooked sometimes," Fountain told Al Sacco on the 49ers Webzone No Huddle Podcast in January. "I know that if I was to go out here to the East-West Shrine Game that I would have had a chance to display my talents but I just didn't know that it was going to go so well as it did."

NFL.com projects Fountain to be a fifth- or sixth-round draft pick. However, a recent seven-round mock by our own Aaron Erickson has the 49ers selecting Fountain in the fourth round.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote the following about Fountain within his scouting report:
"One-year wonder with the requisite height, weight, and speed numbers to interest teams looking for a plus athlete to develop. While Fountain should test well, his route running and ball skills aren't where they need to be and the jump in competition will make that transition challenging. However, Fountain's strong showing at the Shrine Game practices likely increased the number of teams who will target him on Day 3."
