You have to go back to the 2014 season to find the last San Francisco 49ers receiver who had a 1,000-plus-yard season. That was the year Anquan Boldin recorded 83 receptions for 1,062 yards.

Marquise Goodwin nearly crossed the 1,000-yard milestone for the first time in his career but a concussion in the final game of the season left him 38 yards shy of the mark.


Pierre Garçon had 40 catches for 500 yards at the mid-season point but a neck injury during Week 8 ended his year.

While Garçon and Goodwin remain candidates to become the 49ers' first receivers since Boldin to reach 1,000 yards receiving, NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks picked one rookie on the roster who may accomplish the feat – second-round pick Dante Pettis.

"A lot of people have just been stuck on his punt return tape because he had nine punt return touchdowns during his time," Brooks said. "When I'm looking at wide receivers, I want guys who have punt returning in their background because I know they can run with the rock when they get it in their hands.

"I believe in that offense. We saw Jimmy Garoppolo make stars out of pedestrian players. You give him a legitimate guy like Dante Pettis, look for him to go big. San Francisco is going to be exciting. Dante Pettis is going to be a star in the Bay."
