Foster was due in court for the marijuana possession charge on June 20. He was arrested on January 12 in Alabama and charged with the misdemeanor. Even though the charges have been dismissed, Foster still faces a review by the league under the NFL's substance-abuse policy, which could result in a suspension.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Foster will still need to pay the court costs and a $100 bail bond fee in relation to the arrest.
Foster was arrested a month later on February 11 after being accused of domestic violence by his ex-girlfriend, Elissa Ennis. On Wednesday, Judge Nona Klippen dropped the charges of domestic violence with an allegation that he inflicted great bodily injury and forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime after she ruled that there was insufficient evidence against Foster to proceed with the case.
Ennis testified last week that the charges against Foster were based on lies that she initially told responding authorities in an attempt to ruin the linebacker's career after he broke up with her. She also admitted that, in 2011, she went to jail for falsely accusing another former boyfriend of domestic violence after he ended the relationship.
Foster rejoined his 49ers teammates on Thursday – six weeks after being charged in relation to the second arrest and the final day of the team's first week of organized team activities. The 49ers reconvene on Tuesday. Wednesday's practice will be open to the media.
The remaining charge against Foster – possession of an assault weapon – has been reduced to a misdemeanor. The pretrial date for that charge is set for June 6.
Remaining 49ers practice dates during OTAs:
May 29-30, June 1, June 4-5, June 7
May 30 and June 5 will be open to the media
