There were, however, a couple of conditions during the exercise. Neither Jeremiah nor Brooks were able to name a quarterback over the age of 30, which throws out names like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. In addition to that, neither could repeat a name. That means, once Jeremiah or Brooks named a quarterback, they could not name him again for another scenario.
Which quarterback did Brooks select under the scenario of one drive? Who would he choose for that game-winning two-minute drive down the field to win the game? Brooks went with a quarterback who has only started five games with his current team and seven total NFL games.
"I'm talking about the guy that they're already ready to proclaim the GOAT," Brooks said. "How about Jimmy Garoppolo? Look, he's undefeated. Who wouldn't want a quarterback that is undefeated? I want to put the ball in his hands. We saw when he got to San Francisco, unbeaten when he took over as the starter. And we've seen him consistently do it.
"This is a guy that is poised, he's clutch, he's been able to elevate maybe a pedestrian wide receiver core. Those are the kind of guys that you want. Guys that can make others better. Jimmy Garoppolo might be the best quarterback in the league. We're just now seeing how good he can be."
Jeremiah didn't seem convinced that Garoppolo has started enough games to make his list.
"You know the other quarterbacks who are undefeated in the NFL? Me and you," Jeremiah responded. "He's only played a handful more games than both of us so not enough track record there to put Jimmy G up there."
Below are the quarterbacks Jeremiah and Brooks selected for each scenario.
