Joshua Garnett is competing for the San Francisco 49ers' starting right guard spot. He won't practice on Sunday after banging knees with a teammate during Saturday's practice but is expected to return soon.

A number of veterans received a day off on Saturday, which was the 49ers' first padded practice of training camp. Tackle Joe Staley, defensive lineman Earl Mitchell, wide receiver Pierre Garçon, and cornerback Richard Sherman are expected to be ready to go for Sunday's outing.

Tackle Garry Gilliam, who was sidelined on Saturday with an elbow injury, will also practice.

Sunday's team practice, the fourth of training camp, is scheduled for 10:15 a.m.
