The San Francisco 49ers lost 16-13 to the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on Saturday night and dropped to 1-1 on the preseason.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was near perfect going 10-of-11 for 136 yards with a touchdown before throwing an interception during the second offensive drive of the game. He was a perfect 4-of-4 for 83 yards with a touchdown while under pressure and earned a 90.5 overall grade from PFF.

In two preseason games, Garoppolo has an impressive 158.3 passer rating while under pressure, which is tied with Robert Griffin III for the best in the NFL.


Guard Joshua Garnett got his first in-game snaps since January 1, 2017. He entered the game during the second offensive drive and was in on 34 plays while allowing two hurries in 21 pass blocking snaps.

Running back Jeremy McNichols led the team with 28 yards on 10 carries. No 49ers running back gained more than six yards on a single carry.

Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin led the team with three receptions for 61 yards. He also had the team's longest reception on a 40-yard completion from Garoppolo during the first offensive drive of the game.

Second-year defensive tackle D.J. Jones earned the team's top overall grade (91.4) while recording two run stops and a forced fumble. He also had two quarterback hurries in nine pass rush attempts.

Defensive tackle Sheldon Day led all NFL interior linemen during Week 2 in run-stop percentage (27.3 percent) among players with 10-or-more (he had 11) run snaps. He also had a forced fumble.


Linebacker Reuben Foster was credited with four solo tackles. Both Day and Fred Warner each had five combined tackles in the game.

Defensive back Emmanuel Moseley had the 49ers' lone interception of the game.
