Fans also get an extensive look at Sherman's Elite Cornerback Academy, which was held at Stanford University in late June. Second-year cornerback and teammate Ahkello Witherspoon was invited by Sherman to take part. Also in attendance were players like Aqib Talib, Darius Slay, and Xavier Rhodes.
"I thought it would be a great idea to bring all those who are playing at a high level together so that they can understand that we all do a really hard job," Sherman said. "It's really difficult to cover these receivers. They're really talented. They're fast. With this DB academy, we're trying to bring everyone together to just show brotherhood, share tips, and just share experiences, and understand that we're all kind of in this together."
Fans may wonder if it is smart to trade secrets with players from opposing teams.
"We all want to see each other succeed," responded Rhodes. "If he does good, that's motivating me to try to beat him. If he catches four picks, I need to catch five."
Many have questioned whether or not Sherman can return to his pre-injury form and be the shut-down corner he was. Trainer Rischad Whitfield, who Sherman invited to the workout, was impressed with the way the veteran cornerback moved in June.
The Vikings' Rhodes believes Sherman will not only return to form but could be better than he was before the injury.
"Sherman looked good," said Rhodes. "I was messing with him about his Achilles, but he was coming out of his breaks pretty well. You could tell he was tentative a little bit about breaking, but as he got in the grove of things, as he got comfortable with it, he started to look good.
"I think any major injury, I feel like you've just got to build that confidence in yourself that you can go out there and play. That's how he was in the beginning of it. He was trying to build that confidence that he can break on it. Once he built that confidence and believed he can, that's when he took off.
"I believe that Sherman is going to come back stronger. He's going to come back a lot better than he was and he was great already. But he's going to show everyone that he can still be Richard Sherman."
