The San Francisco 49ers have sent a seventh-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for offensive lineman Shon Coleman. News of the trade was first announced by the Browns.

The 49ers confirmed the transaction shortly after Cleveland's announcement. Coleman must pass a physical for the trade to be executed.

The Browns made Coleman a third-round draft pick out of Auburn in 2016. He started all 16 games at right tackle for Cleveland last season and appeared in 23 games since entering the league.

Coleman is 26 years old.

Tackle Garry Gilliam's status remains in limbo. Head coach Kyle Shanahan informed reporters on Thursday night that Gilliam is still in the concussion protocol. He sustained the concussion during the 49ers exhibition opener against the Dallas Cowboys on August 9.
