That's likely what has happened to Garoppolo. The 49ers fear their franchise quarterback suffered a season-ending ACL injury during Sunday's loss in Kansas City and await confirmation from an MRI on Monday.
"I saw it yesterday on the way to the game. I feel terrible for him," Brady said via WEEI radio in the Boston area. "It's a tough injury. I feel bad for Jimmy. It's football, things happen like that. I've been through an ACL and it just sucks."
Garoppolo's head coach, Kyle Shanahan, shared after Sunday's game how disappointed he was for his quarterback.
Obviously, I feel for him, personally," Shanahan said. "I know how disappointed he is. I haven't had a chance to see him yet, but I feel for him."
Garoppolo was 20-of-30 for 251 yards with two touchdowns before exiting the game in the fourth quarter. He passed for 718 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions in what was supposed to be his first full season as a starter with the 49ers.
