Three of four starters from the 49ers' defensive backfield missed Wednesday's practice. The situation got a little better on Thursday with safety Adrian Colbert (hip) back in uniform. Safety Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) missed his second straight practice of the week.
Veteran cornerback Richard Sherman (calf) continues to get around with a walking boot over his left foot. He told reporters on Thursday that he does not expect to play in Sunday's game against the Chargers. When can fans expect to see Sherman back on the field?
"I don't think it's been determined until I go out there and give it a shot, and we work through it," Sherman answered. "I think I'll be missing this one, but I don't think we know much beyond that."
Other injury notes from Thursday:
- Guard Mike Person (knee) returned to practice after sitting out on Wednesday.
- Guard Joshua Garnett (toe) continues to miss practice.
- Running back Matt Breida (knee) and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (quadricep) were full participants on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. Breida appears on track to play on Sunday.
- Running back Alfred Morris (knee) is a new addition to this week's injury report.
