The San Francisco 49ers suffered yet another injury to one of their key players early against the Los Angeles Chargers Sunday, losing rookie wide receiver and punt returner Dante Pettis to an apparent knee injury.

Pettis suffered his injury on the Chargers' first punt of the game at the 13:12 mark of the first quarter. He spent a considerable amount of time down on the field before walking off gingerly with some assistance. And after spending time in the blue medical tent, Pettis was subsequently seen being carted off the field into the locker room.

Take a look at Pettis' left knee here:

San Francisco was up 7-0 already in the game, following a pick-six interception by defensive back Antone Exum on the Chargers' first possession of the game.

News is still pending on Pettis' availability for the rest of the game, as well as the severity of the injury.

Update: Bay Area News Group's Cam Inman reported Pettis returned to the sideline and has been listed as questionable.
