Lynch said he received a "great report" from the surgeon.
"It was a good repair, and they're very optimistic about the prognosis for his future," Lynch said.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan provided his own update during a Friday-morning interview on KNBR.
"I don't know the exact medical details of it except that it went as good as it could go," Shanahan said on the "Murph & Mac" show. "Just ACL and things, nothing extra. They think the rehab will be as good or as quick as an ACL rehab can be. So, relatively speaking, it was good news."
The updates mean there was no further damage to Garoppolo's knee beyond the ACL tear, and the recovery is expected to go smoothly.
"You never know until they open it up," Shanahan continued. "I know I got the thumbs up on it, so we're excited about that."
Shanahan wants Garoppolo to focus on getting healthy and take advantage of using this season to continue to watch and learn.
"He'll be ready to go quick in this offseason," Shanahan added. "I'm excited to get through this season and work with everyone, but I'm definitely going to be excited just to work with Jimmy as fast as possible once the season ends."
