San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Saturday that a decision on running back Matt Breida's status against the Green Bay Packers would come down to right before game time. The two teams kick off at 5:15 p.m. on Monday night with each's list of inactive players due 90 minutes before.

Breida is pushing to play, according to a report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

"Just knowing Breida and how he is, he always gives himself a chance," Shanahan told reporters on Saturday.

Breida was listed as questionable on Saturday's official injury report after sustaining a mid-ankle sprain during the 49ers' 28-18 loss against the Arizona Cardinals. His reported status is progress considering earlier in the week, Shanahan said his running back was likely to be listed as doubtful. Breida was limited during Saturday's practice after sitting out Thursday and Friday's sessions.

Breida has rushed for 369 yards with a touchdown on 49 carries this season. He also has 11 receptions for 90 yards and a score. Breida's 7.5 yards per carry is the best among NFL running backs with 20-or-more attempts this season.
