San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin did not play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and was excused from the team this week as he deals with a personal matter. It is unknown when he will rejoin the 49ers.

Goodwin traveled with his teammates to Tampa, Florida last Friday but returned to the Bay Area on his own shortly after.

Goodwin was at the 49ers' facility on Thursday morning to meet with coaches and team officials but remains excused from practice to deal with family matters, according to a report from Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Goodwin posted the following on Thursday via Twitter.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked on Wednesday if he could say anything more about Goodwin's situation.

"No, nothing," Shanahan responded. "Same stuff. He's been excused. He just needs more time."

The head coach told reporters after the loss to the Buccaneers that Goodwin was dealing with "a family matter" and "something personal."

"He definitely wasn't in trouble (for leaving) because he's going through a serious situation," Shanahan said on Sunday. "Our prayers are with him."

The 49ers have one more practice this week, a session on Friday at 11:55 a.m. PT, before traveling to Seattle for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
