Kittle registered 210 receiving yards on just seven receptions, which ranks third all-time by a tight end in NFL history. Former Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe holds the record for the most receiving yards by a tight end. He had 214 receiving yards against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2002.
Jackie Smith, who ranks No. 2, had 212 receiving yards as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1963.
Kittle's 210 receiving yards in the first half are the most by any NFL player since 1991. He did not, however, have a catch in the second half of Sunday's game.
Sharpe, a Hall of Fame tight end, was in his 12th NFL season and a year away from retirement when he set the record. Kittle is in his second NFL season and already cementing himself as one of the best at his position.
Kittle's performance made him the single-season franchise record holder for most receiving yards by a tight end. Vernon Davis, who had 965 receiving yards in 2009, was the previous record holder. Kittle also became the first 49ers player to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in a single-season since Anquan Boldin did so in 2014.
The 49ers beat the Broncos 20-14 to improve their record to 3-10.
