Jimmy Garoppolo praised San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello whenever he was asked about his success during the team's five-game win streak at the end of last season.

"Rich doesn't get enough credit in my opinion," Garoppolo told reporters before the 49ers' final game of 2017. "There's a lot of moving pieces, but Rich has been with me since I first got here. Literally the first day I walked in here, we were going over stuff after I did all the interviews and whatnot."

Current starting quarterback Nick Mullens has also praised his position coach.

Scangarello is a respected assistant on the 49ers coaching staff, especially by those in the quarterbacks room. It would seem he is now garnering at least some interest around the league as a potential offensive coordinator candidate, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Scangarello is in his second season as the 49ers' quarterbacks coach. He spent 2016 as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Wagner College. Scangarello also spent a season as the offensive quality control coach with the Atlanta Falcons and, before that, as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Northern Arizona University.
