The Los Angeles Rams have officially ruled out running back Todd Gurley for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, according to a report from Field Yates of ESPN.

Gurley currently ranks as the No. 2 rusher in the NFL, behind only Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys. The Rams' fourth-year running back has carried the football 256 times for 1,251 yards with 17 touchdowns through 14 games this season. He also has 59 receptions for 580 yards with four receiving touchdowns.

The Rams made Gurley the No. 10 overall draft pick out of Georgia in 2015. He did not practice this week in preparation for the 49ers. Gurley has been dealing with a knee injury and missed this past weekend's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Running back C.J. Anderson carried the football 20 times for 167 yards in place of Gurley.

The Rams will also be without safety Lamarcus Joyner (ankle), according to head coach Sean McVay.
