Two players bested Rob Gronkowski's record for the most receiving yards in a single season by a tight end. San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce now sit at No. 1 and No. 2 in the record books, respectively.

Kittle finished the 2018 season, his second in the NFL, with 1,377 receiving yards and five touchdowns after registering nine catches for 149 yards with a touchdown on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.

San Francisco lost the game 48-32 and finished the season with a 4-12 record.

Kelce finished the regular season with 1,336 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns after registering five catches for 62 yards against the Oakland Raiders.

Kelce broke the record before Kittle as the Chiefs beat the Raiders 35-3 before the completion of the 49ers' game against the Rams. Kittle was eight yards behind Kelce at the time. The 49ers got the ball back, and Kittle made two more catches for 49 yards. He got into the end zone for his fifth touchdown of the season on the second reception.

The 49ers made Kittle a fifth-round draft pick out of Iowa in 2017.
