San Francisco 49ers kicker Robbie Gould has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for December, the NFL announced on Thursday morning.

Gould converted all 11 of his field goal attempts and all eight extra points in December. He completed 33-of-34 field goal attempts and 27-of-29 extra points this past season, his second with the 49ers.

Gould's 97.1 field goal completion percentage this past season set the franchise record for the highest in a single season. His percentage also led the NFL (minimum 15 attempts).

Gould, who just finished his 14th NFL season, is scheduled to become a free agent in March.

"Of course we want Robbie back," head coach Kyle Shanahan said in December after the 49ers beat the Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium. "He's been great for two years. It's nice for a coach, that when you get to the end of that, I'm not thinking about him missing it at all."

"Ultimately, at the end of the day, I hope I'm back here," Gould said during a KNBR interview in December. "If that's how it is, I love it here. I've enjoyed it here. I think this place checks a lot of boxes off as a player. I think the support staff here is phenomenal."
