San Francisco traded their fifth-round selection to the Detroit Lions for guard Laken Tomlinson before the start of the 2017 season and their seventh-round selection to the Cleveland Browns for tackle Shon Coleman before the start of this past season.
The 49ers will likely receive an additional selection in the form of a compensatory pick if a projection by Over the Cap comes to fruition. Those selections are tradable thanks to a rule change for last year's draft. The salary cap site predicts that San Francisco will be awarded a sixth-round compensatory pick for losing linebacker Aaron Lynch to the Chicago Bears.
The 49ers might have been awarded two seventh-round compensatory picks for the losses of cornerback Leon Hall and tight end Logan Paulsen, but the maximum of 32 compensatory picks for any given draft is projected to be reached by that point.
Here is how the 49ers' 2019 draft is shaping up.
- Round 1: San Francisco (No. 2 overall pick)
- Round 2: San Francisco
- Round 3: San Francisco
- Round 4: San Francisco
- Round 5: Traded for Laken Tomlinson
- Round 6: San Francisco
- Round 6: Potential compensatory pick
- Round 7: Traded for Shon Coleman
