San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin flew to Tampa, Florida with his teammates before a Week 12 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past season. He did not play in the game. Goodwin instead flew back alone to the Bay Area to deal with a family matter. He did not return to action until the 49ers' Week 14 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

Nothing else was revealed about the personal issue the Goodwin family was dealing with. The receiver declined to comment on the matter out of respect for his family's wishes.

"If they give me the OK, then I'd be willing to talk about it," Goodwin told reporters on December 7. "Until then, I'll just kind of keep it between us."

It turns out, a year after dealing with the loss of their child after pregnancy complications arose, Marquise and his wife, Morgan, sadly found themselves in a similarly devastating situation.

The couple revealed via YouTube on Wednesday that they lost twin boys after Morgan went into pre-term labor.

"This November, I had to miss two games," Marquise said. "We experienced another traumatic event in our life that we had to overcome. It was tough at that point of the season."

"I finally have the courage to open up and talk about it because I really didn't want to," Morgan adds after going through the details of the loss.

You can watch their emotional YouTube video, entitled "We Have Some Explaining To Do," below.

"We appreciate you all supporting us so much through this time," Marquise said.
