The Denver Broncos are hiring San Francisco 49ers offensive assistant T.C. McCartney to be their quarterbacks coach. The two sides reached an agreement on Tuesday, according to Mike Klis of 9News.

Klis was also the first to report the news of McCartney's interview with the Broncos.

McCartney spent the past two seasons as an entry-level coach with the 49ers. He served as an offensive assistant at LSU in 2016 and entered the NFL coaching ranks in 2014 as a quality control coach with the Cleveland Browns.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan had McCartney working with the wide receivers during the week leading to the Senior Bowl. The 49ers staff coached the South squad during the annual all-star game.

New Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello spent the past two seasons as the 49ers' quarterbacks coach, so he is familiar with McCartney, who is the grandson of former University of Colorado coaching icon Bill McCartney.
