Murray announced via Twitter on Monday that he is "firmly and fully" committing his life to becoming an NFL quarterback.
Murray already announced that he would take part in the NFL Scouting Combine later this month. The San Francisco 49ers aren't in the market for a quarterback, especially not with the No. 2 overall pick. They have Jimmy Garoppolo and seemingly found a capable backup in Nick Mullens. Then there is former third-round draft pick C.J. Beathard, too. Other teams, however, are looking for a franchise signal-caller.
How Murray performs during the annual evaluation process could move him up on several draft boards. That would be good for the 49ers, who might be looking to trade down if a team like the New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars, or Denver Broncos become eager enough to move up for a quarterback. An impressive combine performance out of Murray would give San Francisco more options.
Oklahoma's website lists Murray at 5-foot-10. Is that accurate? He was also clocked at running nearly 45 yards in 4.44 seconds against Texas. Murray completed 69 percent of his passes for 4,361 with 42 touchdowns compared to seven interceptions for the Sooners this past season.
H/t to Patrick Tulini for the find.
