Thomas reportedly looks to become the highest-paid safety in the NFL. That title currently belongs to Eric Berry of the Kansas City Chiefs, who earns an annual salary of $13 million under his current contract.
The San Francisco 49ers are expected to pursue Thomas, who is a natural fit within the team's defensive scheme. He is a six-time Pro Bowl selection, three-time first-team All-Pro, and a former Seattle Seahawks teammate of current 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman.
Thomas registered 22 combined tackles, five passes defensed, and three interceptions (one more than the entire 49ers defense combined) through four starts with the Seahawks in 2018, which was cut short after the safety suffered a broken a bone in his left leg.
Slater later said on-air that Thomas is looking for an annual salary of $14 million a year, which would likely take teams like the Dallas Cowboys out of the running for the safety.
