It looks like Pierre Desir won't hit free agency after all. The Indianapolis Colts plan to re-sign the cornerback, according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

The Athletic reported that the San Francisco 49ers were showing interest in Desir, who at 6-foot-1 and nearly 200 pounds, fits the mold of what the team looks for in cornerbacks.

Desir is 28 years old. He exceeded expectations in 2018 grading out (77.8) as the No. 18 cornerback in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. Desir's run-defense grade of 90.6 ranked No. 4 among NFL cornerbacks with over 100 coverage snaps.

Of course, his impressive 2018 performance followed a 59.8 overall grade earned in 2017.

The Cleveland Browns made Desir a fourth-round selection out of Lindenwood Washburn in 2014. He registered 79 combined tackles, eight passes defensed, an interception, and two forced fumbles through 16 games and 12 starts with the Colts in 2018.

Desir has recorded 160 combined tackles, 23 passes defensed, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles through his five NFL seasons. He also spent part of the 2016 season with the San Diego Chargers.
