"Sources said [the Giants] would explore a trade for Arizona's Josh Rosen, if the Cardinals decide to make him available, but that they aren't sure yet whether that will happen or whether they would be sure to make an offer for Rosen if it did," Graziano wrote.
The Giants, who dealt off superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, added two additional NFL Draft picks in the process -- Nos. 17 and 95 overall. In addition to their own pick in Round 1, No. 6 overall, New York should have more than enough ammunition to make a move for the Cardinals' Rosen, whom Arizona moved up to No. 10 from No. 15 overall in last year's draft to pick.
Of course, this would all be contingent on the Cardinals actually wanting to move their top investment from the 2017 draft. First-year Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is on record suggesting he'd take Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray with the first overall pick. The Cardinals, who own the top pick this year, are in a position to do that. And many a mock draft out there suggests they will.
If that's the case, it would make more than enough sense for Arizona to try and move Rosen if possible. The Giants have to be thinking about replacing veteran quarterback Eli Manning, who turned 38 years old earlier this year, at some point sooner than later. But it's also plausible they sit and wait it out for what's looking to be a much better quarterbacking draft class in 2020.
Graziano also wrote, "The Giants are rebuilding, but at this point that doesn't mean they're ready to move on from their longtime franchise QB."
This affects the San Francisco 49ers, however, as a presumptive trade would allow a player like Ohio State EDGE Nick Bosa to fall into their collective lap at No. 2 overall. It would also cross the Giants off the list of possible teams interested in trading up to acquire a quarterback with a pick in the top five.
