Verrett joined 95.7 The Game on Friday and shared just how much he wants to wear No. 22.
"I haven't gotten in touch with Breida, man," Verrett told Greg Papa and Bonta Hill. "I know he definitely made a name in that jersey, so it might be a little bit tough to get it off him. I want it. I want it bad. I'm still undecided on what number I'm going to be. I'm sure we're going to get that squared away."
Verrett said he even has shirts made with his old Los Angeles Chargers number on them. They are part of the charity work he does. Of course, it might be cheaper to just make some new shirts rather than buy the number off of Breida.

What about a race?
Despite the video he recently posted on Instagram, Verrett says he isn't quite ready to race Breida for the number. The cornerback is still rehabbing from an Achilles injury suffered during training camp last year. That could be an interesting race, though, assuming everyone is healthy. Verrett ran a 4.38 40-yard dash at the Combine in 2014. Breida clocked a 4.37-second 40-time in 2017.
