The 49ers currently own the fourth selection in the second round (No. 36 overall) and Matt Miller of Bleacher Report believes the team is eyeing two wide receivers with the selection — Arizona State's N'Keal Harry and South Carolina's Deebo Samuel.
"I will say, man, sometimes I don't tell you guys everything I hear because I've got to keep some stuff back to myself," Miller said during the most-recent Stick to Football podcast. "I've heard if N'Keal Harry's gone, Deebo's their guy at 36."
Both general manager John Lynch and VP of player personnel Adam Peters attended Arizona State's pro day on March 24 where Harry was the main attraction. The receiver measured at 6-2 7/8 and 225 pounds at the pro day, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.
Harry finished his 2018 season with the Sun Devils having registered 73 catches for 1,088 yards with nine touchdowns through 12 games. That followed an 82-catch, 1,142-yard, and eight-touchdown performance in 2017.
The 49ers plan to host a pre-draft visit with Samuel, according to The Athletic. He also participated in the Senior Bowl in January and was part of the South squad coached by 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff. Samuel met with the team in February at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Samuel (5-11, 214) had 62 receptions for 882 yards (14.2-yard average) with 11 touchdowns as a senior with the Gamecocks in 2018.
Shanahan hinted in March that the 49ers probably aren't done retooling the receiver group after adding Jordan Matthews in free agency.
"I want to continue adding at all positions, and I definitely think we need to at receiver," Shanahan said via The Athletic.
