Linta started his collegiate career at Brown University and, after graduating in May of 2018, transferred to Wagner for his final season. He wasn't asked to throw the football much with the Seahawks, whose offense featured All-America running back Ryan Fulse.
Linta, who stands at nearly 6-foot-4, was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in February. 17 teams were reportedly in attendance to watch him throw during his pro day.
Linta completed 111 of his 217 pass attempts for 1,481 yards with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2018, according to FCS stats.
Jimmy Garoppolo, who is currently rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered in September, is slated to be the 49ers' starting quarterback when the upcoming season kicks off. The team also has third-year quarterbacks Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard on the roster.
