Jerry Rice revealed during an interview on 95.7 The Game on Monday morning that the former Rebel is joining him on Tuesday to run the famous hill on which the Hall of Fame receiver continues to train.
"I'm going to go out with A.J. tomorrow," Rice said on the "Joe, Lo and Dibs" show. "We're going to try to do something on the infamous hill."
Rice clarified that he was talking about A.J. Brown.
"The Hill" refers to a four-mile trail at Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve in Redwood City, California. It's where Rice, along with teammate Roger Craig and several other former players, used to do endurance work.
"It taught me how to be able to endure -- in pain -- and still perform at a very high level," Rice once told Daniel Brown, now of The Athletic. "You have to challenge yourself. And that's what I did in the off-season."
The 49ers are widely expected to select a wide receiver in this month's draft. Brown is among the 30 players on San Francisco's schedule of pre-draft visits. It is unknown if that visit has already taken place, but the fact that he is in the area training with Rice would indicate that it may be taking place this week.
Brown already met with the 49ers at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. He set a school record for receiving yards in a single game (233) during the first game of his sophomore year in 2017 and finished each of his final two seasons with the Rebels surpassing 1,200 receiving yards.
Brown led the team in receiving as a junior in 2018 and finished the year with 85 receptions for 1,320 yards with six touchdowns. He was named first-team All-SEC for the second consecutive year.
