"I look at the 49ers, and Garoppolo has started 10 games in his NFL career," GMF's Peter Schrager said of the quarterback. "I can't go anywhere with him yet."
Instead, Schrager chose the Los Angeles Rams' Jared Goff.
Goff, whose Rams represented the NFC in Super Bowl LIII last season, finished the year with nearly 4,700 pass yards and 32 touchdowns under the tutelage and system of offensive guru Sean McVay. But Goff faltered down the stretch, which ultimately led to the Rams scoring a mere three points against the eventual Super Bowl-winning New England Patriots.
Still, Schrager liked the recent experience and overall fit within McVay's offense.
DeAngelo Hall, meanwhile, chose Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. And Nate Burleson's choice was the Arizona Cardinals' rookie, Kyler Murray, who just happened to be the No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft.
It's an interesting counterpoint, considering Schrager's touting of Goff's experience and paralleled by Hall's selection of Wilson, Burleson would go with Murray. After all, Murray has yet to take a snap at the NFL level, and the Cardinals are going through the very early phases of a team-wide rebuild.
Despite starting only 10 games, Garoppolo has just a few more NFL snaps than Murray, of course.
"Fourth out of four on this list," Schrager continued about Garoppolo. "And I can't argue with it. He hasn't done enough to do anything in this conversation."
