The names you'd expect to be at the top are there. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the odds-on favorite, coming in at plus-400. Right behind him at plus-700 is New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, while quarterbacks Andrew Luck and Aaron Rodgers -- of the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers, respectively -- are tied for third on the list at plus-800.
The San Francisco 49ers have their own quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, on the list, too. His odds to secure the MVP award currently sit at plus-4000, which is tied for 14th along with Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
At least Garoppolo is tied with the league's 2018 Defensive Player of the Year winner, Donald.
Garoppolo is coming off a 2018 campaign in which he suffered a torn ACL in Week 3. But the odds makers are certainly recalling the five-game win streak he helped engineer to close out the 2017 season after the 49ers acquired him via a trade with the New England Patriots earlier that year. Nearly two full years in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense should help give Garoppolo a leg up on improving on what was a frustrating 2018 for the 27 year old. Additionally, San Francisco added a number of offensive weapons during the offseason to pair with Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle.
Perhaps this combination assists Jimmy G in bettering those odds as the season rolls along.
Garoppolo was the only 49ers player to wind up on MyBookie's list.
