The San Francisco 49ers announced that the team has waived defensive back Alex Brown. The move frees up a roster spot with players reporting to training camp tomorrow.

Two draft picks, defensive end Nick Bosa and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, remain unsigned as of this post.

The 49ers initially signed Brown as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina State on May 16 after he took part in the team's rookie minicamp earlier that month.

Brown's offseason was good enough to impress linebacker Fred Warner, who named the defensive back as a player "flying under the radar."

"The guys who have been here, there's a lot of guys who have stepped up," Warner said last month. "But somebody who has been flying under the radar I think should be mentioned is Alex Brown, a corner that's came in. He's done an outstanding job. He's shown up on tape to me."

Brown registered 90 tackles, 26 passes defensed, seven interceptions, and one sack in 31 games with 25 starts during five seasons with the Bulldogs. He started all 11 games in 2018 while recording 42 tackles, eight passes defensed, four interceptions, and one sack.
