San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch announced on Friday that the team is signing free-agent center Dillon Day. Lynch noted that Day can also play guard.

The team is also working out a tight end, who Lynch did not name, and hopes to sign someone for that position soon.

Last year's starting center, Weston Richburg, is starting training camp on the 49ers' "physically unable to perform" (PUP) list. The addition of Day gives the team some depth at the position.

Day, 27, entered the NFL with the Denver Broncos after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi State in 2015. He has also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers.

Day was a rookie with the Broncos during their Super Bowl 50 run.
