The San Francisco 49ers made two roster moves on Friday, according to Field Yates of ESPN. The team claimed tight end Daniel Helm off waivers and made roster room by releasing veteran tight end Niles Paul.

Helm, an undrafted rookie who signed with the Los Angeles Chargers after this year's draft, played three seasons (2016-18) at Duke after transferring from Tennessee, where he spent the 2014 season. In 51 career games with 26 starts, he recorded 75 receptions for 804 yards (10.7 avg.) with six touchdowns.

Helm (6-4, 255) registered 69 catches for 767 yards (11.1 avg.) and six touchdowns in 38 career games with 24 starts while at Duke. He was named third-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference as a senior.

San Francisco signed Paul on July 26.
