On Wednesday, Guido elaborated on the decision to use the font for the entirety of the season during a discussion with David Lombardi of The Athletic.
"That's going to stay in the end zone," Guido told Lombardi.
Guido went on to say that the font is an iconic part of the team's rich history so the plan is to have the classic-style team-name logo grace the end zones all year. And if the 49ers make the playoffs, the background of the end zone will be painted red, just as it was in the team's heyday.
"It was only the gold saloon font in the regular season," Guido added. "The playoff games, they painted the background red. If we're lucky enough to make the playoffs this year, it'll be red. I can promise all the fans that."

That wasn't the only stadium news Lombardi reported on Wednesday. The 49ers also received permission from the NFL to make the following portion of the signage inside Levi's Stadium honoring the late Dwight Clark permanent.
