The San Francisco 49ers VP of player personnel, Adam Peters, joined Keiana Martin in Denver for a live look-in during the team's joint practice with the Broncos. He spent eight seasons with the Broncos before becoming 49ers general manager John Lynch's first front office hire in 2017.

Peters worked as the Broncos' director of college scouting, assistant director of college scouting, a national scout, and a regional scout during his time in Denver. Now, he is one of Lynch's most trusted advisors and manages the pro and college scouting departments under the 49ers general manager.

Peters was already in Denver when John Elway became the Broncos' general manager. Peters was just as influential with the Broncos as he is in San Francisco. It was Lynch's close relationship with Elway that allowed him to poach Peters from Denver's staff.

Peters notices similarities between the two general managers. Both went to Stanford, so they're both smart, he said.

"They're both very worldly, so they get it," Peters added. "When you're a Stanford guy, you also hang out with a lot of really smart people, too, so it makes you even smarter. So they know a lot about a lot.

"But both being former players is what really, I think, sets them apart because they've been through everything these players have been through so they know a lot of things, really, that I don't know. I didn't play in the NFL.

"They're both Hall-of-Fame-caliber players. One is in the Hall of Fame. One should be in the Hall of Fame, hopefully shortly. Just to be able to be around those guys and just soak up all their experience and knowledge has been really good for my career."

Friday is the 49ers' first joint practice with the Broncos with the second session scheduled for Saturday. San Francisco will hold a walkthrough on Sunday before Monday's night's exhibition game between the two squads at Mile High Stadium.
