The San Francisco 49ers certainly don't need any more injuries. That's what makes a sight after Friday's joint practice with the Broncos so concerning. Starting guard Mike Person was getting around on crutches and with his left foot in an orthopedic boot, according to multiple reports. Later, he was driven away on a cart.

No one noticed what happened and the 49ers have not yet officially commented on the injury.

Update: The injury might not be serious, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic. There has been no official word from the team, though.

The offensive line is already without starting center Weston Richburg (knee), guard Joshua Garnett (finger), and lost Shon Coleman for the year after the swing tackle suffered a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle during San Francisco's preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

The 49ers made Person a seventh-round draft pick out of Montana State in 2011. He lasted one season with that regime before being released on August 31, 2012.

Person spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs, and two stints with the Indianapolis Colts before re-joining the 49ers on May 9, 2018. He started a career-high 16 games at right guard for San Francisco last season and ended the year as the team's third-highest graded offensive lineman and highest-graded guard, according to Pro Football Focus.

Person was scheduled to become a free agent in March before the 49ers signed him to a three-year deal just 10 days before the start of the new league year.
